OUR PROGRAMME - nourishing the whole person
The Glebe Reggio Centre (GRC) is a private, non-religious institution that offers pre-school aged children a safe, natural and fun learning environment based on the Reggio Emilia approach. A Reggio environment is one of beauty and carefully chosen aesthetic design, which fosters an interest in and deep appreciation for the natural environment. The classrooms within the GRC are designed to provide gentle stimulation of each child's natural curiosities. The environment promotes a multi-sensory learning experience to reflect order and method and to represent the wider community in its natural and most beautiful state. GRC children, through an emergent, child-determined curriculum, are equipped with confidence and a sense of respect for self and for others.

Our rich academic programme covers geography, art, reading, writing and arithmetic. Children are also taught an appreciation for different genres of music, various cultures, self-discipline, cleanliness, independence and team-work. The music programme is included in the package and is covered by regular tuition fees. GRC students are exposed to rhythms, sound dynamics, musical instruments and voice through songs and games. An appreciation for music is established at an early age when auditory and visual development is significant and has long been documented as a developmental stimulus , particularly for mathematical skills.

The Centre's fun , physical education programme is central to the complete development of the child. This includes indoor and outdoor sports and play.

Activities at the Centre are regularly documented through photographs or written reports to monitor and record the child's development. This keeps both the teacher and the parents informed of successes and helps determine what changes are required, if any. All photographing is undertaken with parents' express written permission and is used solely for enhancing the educational delivery of the school.

We are very proud of our dedicated staff of qualified educators who are excited about our programme, motivated and inspired. While teachers may express goals and hypothesize about a specific direction, for instance counting, letter sounds or shapes, it is the projects of the students, their displayed interests and ensuing conversations between them and teachers that determine the direction of the curriculum. Each exploration into learning is entirely flexible and possibilities are truly boundless.
