Our Program

Team

The GRC is staffed by a team of passionate educators and supportive parent volunteers who work in unison with the Director to maintain a top quality program for the children. We believe that every area of the program must be delivered by the right educator. For this reason, the Director ensures that the teachers, music directors and academic advisors are all qualified, not just on paper but in their ability and commitment to excellence.

This is done through a stringent hiring process using referrals from existing staff members as a source of identifying new talent. Continuous evaluation and training and consistent motivation keep the team operating at the highest level. Parent volunteers help to keep the school running with the highest quality and efficiency while keeping costs in check.

The Music Director/Music teacher is currently completing a Masters Degree in Music at the University of Ottawa and is also an accomplished opera singer.

The teachers all have their Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE) and are members of the College of ECE. We are pleased that some teachers in training and working towards full qualification have also found a home at the GRC.

The Director, Neil Priel, formerly a licensed stock trader and investment advisor with a lifelong passion for education along with his wife Terri-Ann, was moved to start a Reggio Inspired Centre for their second son.

The Director is the manager of the quality of the program, ensuring that good teachers are retained and motivated and that when they leave, as teachers sometimes do, this has minimal impact on the children. The Director also sees to it that the quality of the education delivery is not compromised with the departure of any member of staff - new teachers quickly become strong members of the team.

The Director's role is to ensure that the various areas of the school: the academic program, the administration, the operations and equipping the Centre are properly supervised and managed and that synergy is maintained between various components. Decisions are made by the Director often with input from teachers, advisors and parents. Parent feedback is not only accepted but encouraged and expected and Feedback/Satisfaction surveys are conducted periodically. We are proud that parents indicated 100% satisfaction with all areas of the school from the program to the facility to the administration!

All our staff are focused on delivery of the highest quality care and education for the children. They identify program needs and resources as needed. They maintain the highest standards of hygiene within all areas of the school and pay special attention to licensing requirements.

Retention practices
Trained, motivated staff is considered one of the most valuable assets of the GRC and keeping staff motivated is a top priority. This is why much time and resources go into organised team building exercises, training and staff socials. We do recognize that from time to time, careers or life plans change, varying opportunities arise and often this means that staff will take different paths. Parents are often anxious about a new teacher within the school year. However, it is noteworthy that the Pre-school/Daycare sector has one of the highest job turnover rates of any sector in Canada for reasons previously outlined.

Change is sometimes unavoidable and will remain a natural part of growth. The GRC maintains a reliable system with quality assurance at its core.
