Philosophy

Motto - Excellence from the Start
The saying, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" is what inspires our motto, Excellence from the Start - to which we are deeply committed. Our dream is that each child, from as early as the pre-school years, should be encouraged to achieve maximum potential in order to attain excellence. Children are special and each one unique. The Glebe Reggio Centre offers each child focused individual care and attention. This allows for quality academic and social development which will propel them into greatness !

Our Vision
We believe that the Reggio, child-centred approach to early childhood education offers enormous advantages for intellectual and emotional development. This is perfect for promoting a confident, independent and polite personality. Children are encouraged along their natural developmental path to flourish with self-esteem, respect for others, respect for the environment and to embrace the values and attitudes that define a good citizen.

Some children are given to self-teaching while others respond more favourably to routine and structure. Our Centre appreciates the value of the traditional teaching methods and these are also utilized, to varying degrees, to ensure a well-rounded student. Because the Reggio approach is steeped in the documentation of the child's development, the proportion of the Reggio to traditional methods suitable for each child becomes evident over time. This discovery directly determines the most appropriate mix for your child which will prepare him/her for a fast paced elementary school program.

Our vision also includes the application of learning to life: understanding the importance of our community and all its elements; and gaining respect for the environment, different cultures, our friends and ourselves. In this, we learn about different musical genres, the importance of a healthy diet and the value of exercise and sports.

This, we believe, helps to create and support a balanced, healthy and happy childhood.

Raising children is a collaborative effort involving the home and the community. Active parent participation in the Centre's activities is encouraged, in order that the Centre becomes an extension of the home, where each complements the other.
