Our Program

Details and Tuition Fees

We provide a top quality program for your child, delivered by people who care for him/her in a wonderful atmosphere. We encourage your child's imagination and creativity and independence and in so doing build their self confidence. This is the true foundation of learning that is carried through life. This is what makes us different.

Meals
There is irrefutable evidence that a child's ability to learn is impacted by his/her diet. We believe that a complete education includes teaching our children the importance of eating healthily. For this reason, no carbonated drinks or processed foods are served. For morning and afternoon snack, the GRC offers fresh, organic fruit and snacks. In line with this, we encourage parents to pack healthy, nut-free lunches for the kids, avoiding food and drink with high sugar content.

Calendar Year
The GRC's calendar year is similar to that of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board except for some PD days when we remain open. We operate an academic year from September to June and a summer program in the month of July. The Centre is closed for the month of August for our annual renewal. Enrolment is for the full calendar year from September to July. Our school calendar complete with our PD days is available on our blog: www.glebereggiocentre.ca/news/calendar.

Punctuality
Punctuality and routine are very important for children as they form habits based on the way they go to school. To the child, school is his/her place of work and it must be treated with respect. Parents must be punctual in drop off and pick up otherwise children are not learning to respect the timetable of classmates and teachers. Late arrivals also put children at the centre of attention as the class activity is interrupted while classmates welcome them and for some, this may be unsettling. Children are also robbed of quality program time as they sometimes need a few extra minutes to settle in the classroom. We do understand that occasional tardiness is unavoidable at times, especially during extreme weather conditions however late arrivals should be kept to a minimum.

Tuition Fees/Payment Methods
The cost of delivering a Reggio inspired program is enormous, not only in monetary terms but in time and dedication. The cost of our program remains manageable through parent participation and volunteering. The fees are annual but may be paid monthly, and the amount parents pay depends on the program selected, if the fees are paid with one full payment and if they take advantage of our collaboration program. Tuition fees, like enrolment, are for the entire year. We do not offer month to month enrolment or partial year arrangements.

Fees may be paid as follows:
1. In full with one payment for 5% off
2. In 2 equal payments for 2.5% off
3. Monthly payments—after making a prepayment you may pay the balance monthly with 11 post dated cheques (1st of each month).

Uniforms:
The school has a uniform consisting of a white polo shirt with the school crest and navy blue coordinate (pants/skirt/shorts). Shirts are available at the school. All pre-school children and full time kindergarteners are required to be in uniform every day. While toddlers and Half day Kindergarteners are not required to be in uniform, they often do not want to be left out and are welcome to be in uniform also.
